Boston instituted a parking ban Saturday and officials announced mass transit would shut down as the snow-socked city prepared for yet another winter storm, it’s fourth in less than 30 days. The city could get eight inches of and see wind gusts of 75 mph, forecasters said.
Blizzard conditions and high winds are forecast for the Northeast, and parts of eastern parts of Maine could see an extra 18 inches, forecasters at The Weather Channel said. Winter storm watches were in place as far south as Atlanta and the northern parts of Alabama and Mississippi.
Bands of heavy snow were falling across Rhode Island Saturday night as the storm pushed towards northern new England, the National Weather Service said. Parts of Long Island had already recorded close to three inches of snow by 9 p.m. ET and Waterbury, Connecticut, saw three inches as the storm moved in, the NWS said.
