Starting at 80,750 rupees-or roughly $960-and going as high as 102,790 rupees for the premium variant, the 2025 model promises upgraded hybrid performance, a dash of retro flair, seamless Bluetooth connectivity, and a fuel-efficient ride that could ease the wallet’s strain in response to rising petrol prices.

The launch, announced Thursday at a virtual event for dealers and media, underscores Yamaha’s ongoing push into electrified mobility for the masses. The Fascino, a staple in the 125-cubic-centimeter scooter segment since its debut in 2015, has long appealed to young riders with its curvaceous, Vespa-inspired silhouette. This iteration builds on that heritage, incorporating subtle upgrades that speak to the evolving demands of city dwellers: quicker acceleration for stop-start traffic, app-linked navigation for unfamiliar streets and a battery-assisted engine that idles silently at red lights.

At its heart is Yamaha’s Blue Core hybrid technology, a micro-hybrid system that pairs a conventional 125cc air-cooled, fuel-injected engine with a Smart Motor Generator. Engine specifications include: BS VI Phase 2 compliant, E20 ethanol-blended fuel compatible; 8.2 hp at 6,500 r.p.m. and 10.3 Nm of torque at 5,000 r.p.m. modest on-paper figures but enhanced by the hybrid system for real-world pep. Other options include Vivid Red, Cyan Blue, and Dark Matte Blue for broad appeal. At 1,920 millimeters long, 685 millimeters wide, and 1,150 millimeters tall, with a low 780-millimeter saddle height, it’s nimble for weaving through markets or parking in tight spots. Ground clearance stands at 145 millimeters, ample for most pothole-riddled roads, and the 99-kilogram kerb weight (drum variant) makes it featherlight for novice riders. Under the seat, there is 21 liters of storage-enough to house a helmet and groceries-while the 5.2-liter fuel tank promises extended range sans very frequent refills.

Where it gets really impressive, though, is in the connectivity department-a nod to the smartphone generation. This top-spec Fascino S variant loses the analog console for a colour thin-film transistor display, connected via Bluetooth to Yamaha’s Y-Connect application. Riders will be able to see turn-by-turn navigation powered by Google Maps, complete with intersection alerts and road name readouts, along with the usual stuff like fuel economy tracking, last parked location, and maintenance reminders.

Lower variants will continue using analog gauges but still offer app connectivity for diagnostics. “It’s like having a co-pilot in your pocket,” said one early tester on X, formerly Twitter, praising the seamless pairing that converts the scooter into an extension of one’s digital life. Safety-wise, there’s a unified braking system that balances the front and rear drums (130 mm each) or an optional 190-mm front disc, while the suspension comprises telescopic forks up front and a unit-swing rear suspension for composed handling.

Tubeless tyres on 12-inch alloy wheels shod with 90/90 rubber at the front and 110/90 at the rear grip quite well in wet conditions, and conveniences extend to a side-stand engine cut-off and hazard lights. Deliveries start later this month through Yamaha’s 1,200-dealer network, with introductory offers such as free accessories or extended warranties available in select cities.
