In a dramatic late-night post on Truth Social, former U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that American forces have carried out airstrikes on three key Iranian nuclear facilities Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. Declaring the mission a success, Trump wrote, “All planes are now outside of Iran’s airspace. A full payload of bombs was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home.”
He further emphasized the scale and precision of the operation, saying, “We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran… There is not another military in the World that could have done this.” Trump concluded his statement with a striking message: “NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE!”
Following the strikes, Trump reportedly had a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. U.S. officials also confirmed that stealth B-2 bombers were involved in the mission. These aircraft, capable of carrying the 30,000-pound GBU-57A/B “Mother of All Bombs,” are designed to destroy heavily fortified underground bunkers like those found at Fordow.
Trump later reposted an intelligence analyst’s claim that “Fordow is gone,” adding that he would address the nation from the White House at 10 p.m. local time to discuss what he described as a “historic moment for the United States, Israel, and the world.” He ended with a direct statement to Iran: “Iran must now agree to end this war.”
Iran Responds: Mixed Claims and Warnings
Iran’s initial response was divided. While the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps denied the strikes had occurred, national television confirmed that the three nuclear sites had been evacuated. A senior advisor to Iran’s Parliament Speaker stated that Fordow had been anticipating such an attack for days and evacuated accordingly, suggesting the damage was not permanent. “Two things are certain: 1. Knowledge cannot be bombed. 2. This time, the gambler will lose,” the advisor said cryptically.
However, other Iranian sources including the semi-official Tasnim News Agency confirmed that part of Fordow was indeed targeted by enemy airstrikes around 2:30 a.m. local time. A state TV commentator warned that “every American civilian or military personnel in the region has now become a legitimate target.”
Reports vary on the scale of the operation. While Fox News cited six bunker-buster bombs used at Fordow and 30 Tomahawk missiles at other locations, CNN later reported that 12 bunker-busters were deployed in total.
U.S.-Israel Cooperation Confirmed
Israeli officials confirmed to KAN News that the attack was fully coordinated with the United States. Prime Minister Netanyahu publicly thanked Trump, calling the airstrikes “truly unsurpassed” and stating that the actions “did what no other country on Earth could do.”
Speaking to Israeli journalist Barak Ravid, Trump said, “We had a great success tonight. Your Israel is much safer now.” In a separate call with Reuters, he issued a stern warning: “They should make peace immediately. Otherwise, they’ll get hit again.”
A High-Stakes Operation
The B-2 stealth bombers used in the attack reportedly flew a non-stop 37-hour mission from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri, with multiple in-air refueling operations along the way. Though officials have yet to confirm if these were the same aircraft that struck Iran, sources told The New York Times the B-2s involved were equipped with the GBU-57A/B Massive Ordnance Penetrators commonly known as “The Mother of All Bombs” to penetrate Iran’s deep underground bunkers.
While the full impact of the strikes remains to be seen, the geopolitical tremors are already being felt. The White House has also reached out to Iran, reportedly assuring them that the U.S. has no intention of pursuing regime change. For now, Washington seems to be hoping that the dramatic show of force will bring Tehran back to the negotiating table without further escalation.
